The members at Compass Group Canada (Morrison) Ltd. at the Kingston General Hospital ratified a three-year agreement on April 12, 2022.

Wages in Year 1 will increase by $.40 to the 12-month rates retroactive from Oct 3, 2021. There will be a special wage increase at the date of ratification of $.20 to the general help 12-month rate and $.15 to the baker 12-month rate.

In year two: $.15 wage increase to the general help 12-month rate, $.25 increase to the baker 12-month rate and $.25 increase to the new cook classification 12-month rate. In year three: $.20 increase to the general help 12-month rate, $.25 cent increase to the baker 12-month rate and $.25 increase to the new cook classification 12-month rate.

There will be a one-time lump sum of $100 after ratification for employees with 6 or more years of service.

We are happy to report the achievement of a new cook job classification, something that has been fought for in the past, will now be part of the collective agreement posted within 7 days of ratification.

Other language improvements include:

  • A new letter of understanding will provide that a full and part-time employee with 7 or more years of service will be entitled to one floater day in 2023 and 2024.
  • When the death of a family member occurs while an employee is on shift and the employee is notified while at work, that employee can, at their choosing, utilize a portion of their entitlement to cover the loss of earnings for the remainder of their shift.
  • Improved representation language when discipline is involved.
