CFB Trenton members secure new agreement

Unionized employees working at CFB Trenton ratified a new collective agreement recently.
The employer will pay retroactive wage increases of 2.5% for hours worked since January 1, 2019, plus an additional 2.5% effective as of January 1, 2020. Employees at CFB Trenton will receive another 1% raise as of January 1, 2021, and another 1% in January 2022. Plus, the agreement contains language stating that if a minimum wage increase is higher than the negotiated increase in the same year, employees will receive a pay adjustment of up to 25 cents.
Part-time employees at CFB Trenton now benefit from two paid sick days per year where previously they had none. In addition, part-time employees are now entitled to paid Family Responsibility Leave of up to five days instead of the previous one day per year. Now, full-time also benefit from having one paid personal day per year.
Language improvements ensure a Steward is present for meetings. Pregnant employees will receive a half day’s pay to attend routine medical appointments. Lastly, new language states that temporary vacancies of 30 days or more will be posted, whereas previously these positions were appointed.
The four-year agreement, ratified on February 24, 2020, covers 30 full-time and 40 part-time employees at CFB Trenton.
