President Kelly Tosato & Secretary-Treasurer Jim McLean talk to two picket captains on the Cargill Dunlop picket line.

As the Cargill Dunlop strike continues, and week two draws to a close, the 960 members of UFCW Local 175 continue to hold the line.

“Our members at Cargill are strong. It takes courage to go on strike and put your very livelihood on the line to demand what you deserve,” said Kelly Tosato, President of UFCW Local 175. “These members work hard every day to put food on the tables of families across this province and beyond. And Cargill is a huge international corporation that, frankly, needs to step up and do better for these workers.”

“We are seeing far too many corporations make enormous profits off the backs of their workforces and, coupled with the rising cost of living, many workers and their families are being pushed to the breaking point. They’ve had enough,” added President Tosato. “Our members at Cargill want to get back to the bargaining table to negotiate a collective agreement that recognizes their hard work and contributions to the community at large.”

Picketers are on site 24 hours day, every day, and have been since the strike began in the pouring rain at 12:01 a.m. on May 27, 2024.

A big thank you to everyone who has come out to show their support over the last couple of weeks. And, if you’re driving by the area in Guelph, please honk in support!
