Cargill Limited has announced it will be closing its Rexdale plant in May of 2011 as part of the company’s realignment strategy. This decision directly impacts 600 Local 633 members and their families. “At this point, our main priority is to assist the members of Cargill in any way possible and provide them our continued support,” says UFCW 175 President Shawn Haggerty. The Union will be meeting with the company next week to negotiate a closure agreement which will outline member severances and monies for labour adjustment.
