We are sad to inform our members that Betty Pardy passed away this week.

Betty was Chief Steward for many years at Cargill London (formerly Sun Valley Foods) where she began working in the early 1980s. She participated on the Return to Work Committee and assisted many of her co-workers in that capacity. In 2009, Betty received an outstanding member achievement award from the Local Union for her dedication to Health & Safety and injured worker advocacy.

She worked tirelessly to represent her almost 1,000 co-workers year after year, and in 1992 she was elected as Local 175’s Recorder – a position she held until her retirement only two years ago.

“Betty was a great leader and was always generous with her time and care for her co-workers, the Union, and her community,” said President Haggerty. “We were proud to have her be a part of our Union family here and she will be missed. On behalf of all the staff and members of Locals 175 & 633, I offer my sincere condolences to Betty’s family, friends and loved ones.”
