ASI Group Inc. ratifies first collective agreement to secure wage increases, language improvements, with the protections and the benefits of belonging to a union.
ASI Group Canada Inc in Mississauga unanimously ratified their first collective agreement on March, 29, 2025 with a three-year term.
This deal secures wage increases for current employees of: Year 1 – $0.75, Year 2 – $0.60, and Year 3 – $0.60, and a $500 signing bonus. There will be the creation of a wage grid for new employees of: Probationary rate – $20.00, Start rate – $ 21.00, Year 1 – $21.75, Year 2 – $22.50, Year 3 – $23.25, Year 4 – $24.00, and Year 5 – $24.75. The lead hand premium will be $2.50/hour.
The employer contribution to the company’s registered pension plan will be equivalent to 4% of annual earning.
Benefit improvements include:
- The employer will pay 100% of the cost for benefits.
- Dental covered at 80% up to $1,500/year.
- 100% drug coverage with a $10 deductible.
- $300 per year each for Chiropractic, Osteopath, Podiatrist, Massage Therapy, Naturopath, Dietician, Speech Therapist, Physiotherapy, Psychologist/Counselor, and Acupuncturist.
- $500 towards the cost of hearing aids.
Along with the benefits and protections of being a Unionized workplace including a grievance procedure and stewards at disciplinary meetings, these new members will have:
- Overtime paid after 40 hours per week, an important achievement for these workers.
- Four weeks vacation entitlement after 10 years service.
- Eight hours pay for any holiday.
- Mileage will be $0.70 per km.
- Five paid wellness days per year.
- Expanded the recognition clause to the City of Mississauga.
- Probation period will now be 60 days instead of six months.
- If a layoff becomes permanent, workers will receive termination pay of one week per year of service.
