Apetito HFS in Ottawa ratifies wage increases and recognition of National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

On February 22, 2022 the members in Ottawa at Apetito Healthcare Food Services Limited ratified a three-year collective agreement. Wages increases will be as follows: Year 1 – $.63, Year 2 – $.51, Year 3 – $.51 across the board for all employees. The night shift premium will increase to $.50 per hour up from $.35. Other monetary improvements include an increase in the shoe allowance to $175.00 up from $150.00.
Other language improvements include that the employer will post 20 new full-time jobs in the first year of the agreement (five each quarter) and 15 new full-time jobs in the second and third year. Employees being promoted to full-time will receive benefits immediately at not have to wait 12 months. Employees are able to sell off a week’s vacation (if they have 4 weeks or more) for a 120% payout. The Chief steward will have 30 minutes with new employees every month.
The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation will be added to the list of paid holidays.
