Members at ADM Milling in Port Colborne achieved a new ratified collective agreement on February 21, 2018.

The 67 full-time employees will see improvements to their wages totalling 9% over the term of the contract. In addition, the maintenance rate receives an adjustment of 50 cents per hour added prior to the general increase.

The Union negotiating committee achieved better language with respect to leaves of absence for Union business, and Union Rep visitation. They also had an additional floater holiday added to provide members with additional personal time away from work.

Previously, if your relief from the next shift called in sick, the employer would force the employee on the job to stay to ensure coverage. Now, the employer can only force the person on the job to stay for four hours past the end of their shift.

Through bargaining, the committee also resolved a number of grievances that were slated for arbitration. Other improvements include an increased boot allowance and enhanced bereavement entitlement. The Mill Department Operator 1 classification receives a new shift premium as well

Union Negotiating Committee: Tom Harriettha, Gary Tonelli, Kevin Ruch, and Union Rep Jason Hanley.
