Additional sick days and wage increases ratified at Dependable Maintenance Janitorial

The members at Dependable Maintenance Janitorial in North York ratified a three- year agreement on August 25 and 26, 2023.
There is a new progression wage grid and increases are as follows:
- Less then one year of service: Year 1- $1.25, Year 2 – $.38 and Year 3 – $.39
- 1-5 years of service: Year 1 – $1.50 to $2.15, Year 2 – $.50 and Year 3 – $.50
- 5 years or more: Year 1 – $1.80, Year 2 – $.50 and Year 3 – $.50
- Additionally, no wage will be less than $.30 above minimum wage.
The weekend and night premiums increase from $.50 to $.60 and the Leadhand premium increases from $1.25 to $1.35.
Language improvements include
- Sick days increase from 1 to 4 paid days per year.
- Health spending account increases from $250 to $350 per year.
- One additional bereavement day increasing from 2 days to 3 days.
- One additional Health & Safety member per location.
- Additional negotiating committee member.
- Vacation to be paid in a lump sum when vacation is taken.
- National Day for Truth and Reconciliation added to the list of paid holidays.
New Letters of Understanding re:
- Overtime/additional time sign-up and scheduling.
- Vacation ability for Christmas and New Year stat holiday time (now allowed and rotating by seniority).
- Pandemic/Outbreak Language
