A recommended deal for the more than 80 members of Local 175 employed at Imperial Parking in Ottawa, was ratified by 95% at a meeting held February 26, 2017.

Through four days of bargaining, the negotiating committee achieved a number of improvements for the members in the three-year agreement.

Wages increase by 2% in the first year, retroactive for hours worked since September 4, 2016, and by 2.2% over the final two years of the agreement term. The night shift premium improves and members who work alone will now receive paid lunch.

Language improvements address the on-call list, and bereavement entitlement. Stewards will now receive two days’ leave per year to attend Union training or conferences. The employer will pay $25 for doctor’s notes when required, and they will contribute $200 per year to the Local Union’s Leukemia Fund.

The employer will also contribute $300 per year toward the UFCW Locals 175 & 633 Education & Training Fund, and negotiating committee members will receive 100% reimbursement for their lost-time during bargaining.
