Members of Local 175 working for the Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group in the Toronto area voted on a new collective agreement on February 2, 2017.

The ratified three-year deal includes wage increases totalling $1.70 per hour over the life of the contract. RRSP contributions increase up to a maximum of 6% of earnings, which are matched by the employer by 50%.

The negotiating committee was able to achieve continued 100% employer paid premiums and reimbursement of health and dental benefits despite the employer’s attempt to claw back those provisions. In addition, vision care coverage increases to $300 per 24-month period, up from $175.

Improved language provides an additional day’s bereavement for the death of an in-law. Other language improvements address overtime and uniforms.

Union Negotiating Committee: Jose Palomino, Lee Peachey, Sanjay Sharma, and Union Rep Jehan Ahamed.
