ONIWG Halloween MPP Lobby Day
On October 29, 2021, along with injured workers, labour organizations and other allies, we participated in the ONIWG Halloween MMP Lobby Event.
Locals 175 & 633 Workers’ Comp Rep Courtney Salomons along with acting President of ONIWG Willy Noiles met with St. Catharines MPP Jennie Stevens to deliver a letter and discuss some major concerns affecting injured workers. Notably, the WSIB ‘surplus’, deeming, WSIB discrediting injured workers’ physicians and other treating professionals in favour of the WSIB specialty clinic doctors. Using pre-existing conditions as reasons to deny and also the dreadful number of claims allowed under Chronic Mental Stress, Traumatic Mental Stress and PTSD being at 6%.
Jennie assured us she would get together with MPP of Niagara Falls Wayne Gates to bring forward these concerns again the house and revisit Bill 115 which would help correct the act of deeming.
