6th Annual Arts for Leukemia event raises $3,178 for blood cancer research
On Saturday, May 28, 2016, union members and many from the Barrhaven community came out to support the 6th Annual Arts for Leukemia event to raise money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada (LLSC).
The evening, organized by Ross’ YIG Union Steward Franca Saikaly-Johnston and with the help of her son and friends, was a great success again this year.
Local artists provided entertainment and there were many door prizes to win throughout the evening. A number of artists from the area donated pieces for a silent auction, and as always, our great volunteers set up crafts and bake sale tables, and set up the hall for everyone to enjoy.
This year’s Arts evening raised a grand total of $3,178 for the LLSC.
Entertainment included a number of local musicians, as well as The Stellas: Pauline Howes, Franca Saikaly-Johnston, Leona Panagapka, and Linda Gregory. Linda was particularly interested in getting involved as her son just celebrated 10 years’ remission from Leukemia.
Thank you to everyone who helped organize and especially to the amazing volunteers, entertainers and artists who gave their time and talent for such a good cause.
