First contract for workers at Maratech Aviation
The 11 members at Maratech Aviation in Sudbury, ratified their first collective agreement on April 15, 2013. Members of the bargaining unit benefit from wage increases of 3% in each year of the deal with the first years’ increase retroactive to January 1, 2013.
In addition to standard contract language, the agreement includes language that provides for the carryover of employees and their contract should operations move.
Workers also benefit from enhanced severance in the event of permanent layoff, a boot allowance, overtime after 40 hours, and up to four weeks’ vacation paid at 8% of their annual earnings or weekly pay, whichever is greater. Family Day is also included as a paid holiday under the contract.
