The 62 members working at the New Edinburgh Square retirement home facility in Ottawa secured a new three-year collective agreement at a ratification vote held November 14.

Improvements contained in the terms of the contract include wage increases for all rates and progressions of 1.6 per cent in the first year, 1.7 per cent in the second year and 2 per cent in the third year.

Sick leave improves to provide six days per year, up from the previous 4.5, for full-time workers. Dental benefits will be paid according to the current Ontario Dental Association (ODA) schedule of fees where previously benefits were paid on a two-year lag from those fees. Company contributions to the Canadian Commercial Workers Industry Pension Plan (CCWIPP) increase.
Other improvements include better shift premium language, a uniform allowance now based on cents per hour, which has resulted in an increase, and language was negotiated to better deal with vacant temporary full-time positions.
