Renewed Deal for Pepsi

Members at Pepsi Co. Beverages Canada in Hamilton, Ontario have a renewed three-year Collective Agreement. Ratified August 2, the contract includes increased wages, a signing bonus and more. Workers will receive a raise each year on September 1. Wages will increase by $0.30 per hour in 2011, $0.45 per hour in 2012 and $0.50 per hour in 2013. Over the course of the agreement, members will increase their pay by $1.25 per hour. In addition to this, there will be a $500 signing bonus for fulltime Delivery Drivers and $250 for part-time workers. Members who begin their shifts after 1:30pm will receive a shift premium that increases in 2011 and 2012. On September 1, those workers will receive an additional $0.85 per hour and the following year the amount is raised to $0.90 per hour.

Worker safety is also emphasised in the contract. Members will receive additional funds for protective clothing and equipment. Beginning in January 2012, workers who are required to wear safety shoes will be given a $165 allowance. The amount increases by $5 for the next two years. Similarly, those who use tools will be given $250 per year to purchase the necessary equipment. The company will also reimburse 100% of the cost of physical examinations for members renew their A-Z license.
